Can I self-sponsor myself to work in UK?

Overseas entrepreneurs are unable to apply for a skilled worker visa on their own. If an individual wishes to establish a business in the United Kingdom, they must first obtain a sponsor license. Basically, self-sponsorship is when you apply for yourself to sponsor your business instead of having a UK sponsor. But there’s no such thing as ‘self-sponsorship’ and there’s no UK visa category for self-sponsorship. Instead, it’s when you use your company to sponsor yourself through the Skilled Worker visa.

To be eligible for self sponsorship you must:

Do you Have the necessary experience or credentials to establish or take over a company in the United Kingdom.

Do you have a feasible business plan or have you identified a UK business you would like to acquire?

Make sure you can read and write in English (CEFR scale B1). You'll need to pass an English language test.

Have enough money to start your business in the UK. There's no set minimum or maximum amount of money you need to have to start a business.
